Description

Via Tecvia SA, Colas Genève recovers "construction site bituminous asphalt waste".

Construction site provide a pool of high quality raw materials primarily composed of aggregates and bitumen for the production of recycled asphalt aggregates.

Several avenues are being explored for the use of these recycled materials:

1. Production of Valorcol T: warm asphalt, made from recycled asphalt aggregates. Valorcol T is for foundation, base and binder courses, and to some extent for wearing courses.

It provides high added-value to old asphalt for the manufacture of new asphalt, and has the following advantages:

  • Reduces energy consumption and GHG emissions
  • Respects the principles of sustainable development
  • Conserves natural resources and landfills
  • Limits transport for supplying new materials and eliminating site "waste"
  • Improves the image of construction companies

Valorcol T also provides an advantage from the standpoint of working comfort for employees. This is because workers use a warm mix that allows them to work with:

  • Less risk of burns
  • A material that gives off less smoke and heat

2.Integrating recycled asphalt in production: Tecvia SA has a very efficient asphalt mixing plant providing high added-value recycling which allows it to integrate an average of 25% of recycled materials.
