After its success at Solar Decathlon 2017, the Neighborhub comes back to Fribourg

After its success at Solar Decathlon 2017, the Neighborhub comes to life at the blueFACTORY site in Fribourg.

The NeighborHub is a solar house designed and built by more than 250 students over 7,500 hours, as part of the Swiss Living Challenge project launched in 2015. The goal of this house is to eventually become an eco-responsible and unifying place that brings citizens together to encourage them to go towards a more sustainable future.

This Swiss solar prototype has been named winner of the 2017 Solar Decathlon International Competition in Colorado in October 2017! After its exhibition, the house will be rebuilt this winter in Fribourg on the site of blueFACTORY and will adapt to the needs of the neighborhood to integrate the city. Indeed, this pilot project is designed to be tested in a real-life setting. NeighborHub tours will be held this spring.

The house will be a meeting place and exchange to converge the inhabitants of a neighborhood and imagine with them solutions to consume less and better. There will be tools and alternatives around seven levers of action we can act on: the use of renewable energies, mobility, water and waste management, food, biodiversity and the choice of materials. Local residents will benefit from advice, interactive activities and conferences around these themes.
